How much does a tow cost in West Palm Beach, FL?
A tow bill has two parts. The hook-up covers the truck coming to you and loading the vehicle. Mileage covers the loaded trip to the shop, the dealer or your driveway. A dead sedan going three miles from Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard to a shop on Military Trail is a hook-up and nothing more. The same sedan going from PGA Boulevard to Lake Worth Beach adds ten or so loaded miles.
What moves a price up is work, not the clock. A car stuck in park with a dead battery, a vehicle in a parking garage with a low ceiling, wheels that will not turn after a crash, or a car sitting in soft sand all take more time and equipment than a car that rolls. Say so on the phone and the range you hear will hold. For a line-by-line breakdown see 24 hour towing prices in West Palm Beach.
| Service | Typical range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Local tow, hook-up and first 5 miles | $95 – $150 | Wheel-lift or flatbed, one car or light truck, to a shop or home |
| Each additional mile | $4 – $7 | Loaded miles after the first five |
| Flatbed requested or required | $115 – $185 | All-wheel-drive, low cars, motorcycles, vehicles that cannot roll |
| Winch-out, simple pull | $85 – $200 | One truck, one line, vehicle within reach of pavement |
| Accident recovery | $250 – $600 | Rollover, deep ditch, canal bank or debris cleanup, quoted at the scene |
| Jump start | $65 – $110 | Battery tested and boosted, alternator output checked |
| Lockout | $65 – $120 | Door opened with wedge and reach tools, no drilling |
| Tire change with your spare | $70 – $115 | Flat off, spare on, lugs torqued |
| Fuel delivery | $70 – $110 | Two to three gallons brought to you, fuel billed at cost |
| Long distance, over 50 miles | $3 – $5 per mile | Flatbed, quoted as one total before loading |
Ranges are typical for the West Palm Beach area and are not a fixed menu or a quote. They apply to tows the vehicle owner requests. Your price is confirmed by phone for your vehicle and location before a truck is sent.

Pick the problem and your messages app opens with it filled in. Add the cross street or mile marker and the year, make and model, then press send. You get a price range and an arrival estimate back. Nothing is stored on this site.
On a highway shoulder or in a live lane, call. A voice call is faster than a text when traffic is close.
What should you do while you wait for a tow truck on I-95?
I-95 through West Palm Beach carries commuter traffic, airport traffic and through traffic on the same lanes, and the shoulders are narrow where the express lanes were added. The stretch between Southern Boulevard and 45th Street is the one that generates the most calls. Florida's Turnpike has wider shoulders but long gaps between exits, so know your last mile marker.
- Get right. Coast to the right shoulder if the car still rolls. The left shoulder beside the express lanes is the worst place to stop.
- Hazards on, wheels turned away. Turn the steering wheel away from traffic so a rear hit pushes the car off the road, not into it.
- Stay belted in. On a highway shoulder, the seat is safer than the grass unless you smell fuel or see smoke.
- Find your location. Read the green mile marker, the last exit sign, or drop a pin and read the nearest cross street.
- Call. Dial 911 if you are in a lane. Otherwise call for a tow and give the direction of travel, northbound or southbound.
On surface streets the rule is simpler: pull into the nearest lot. A gas station on Okeechobee Boulevard or a plaza on Northlake Boulevard is a safer and faster pickup than a travel lane. Florida law also asks drivers in a minor crash with no injuries to move the vehicles out of the travel lanes when they can be driven.
What towing and roadside services can you get in West Palm Beach?
The first question a dispatcher asks is whether the vehicle needs to move at all. Roughly a third of roadside calls end without a tow: a boosted battery, a mounted spare, a door opened, two gallons of gas. Sending a service truck for those costs less than sending a flatbed and loading a car that only needed a jump.
Prices shown are typical West Palm Beach ranges. Not sure which one you need? Describe what the vehicle is doing and dispatch will tell you.
Should you call a towing company near you, your motor club or the Road Rangers?
All three have a place. A motor club or an insurer's roadside plan is prepaid, so use it when you are parked safely and can wait for the plan's network to assign a truck. Keep the tow limit in mind: many basic plans cover only a few miles, and you pay the per-mile difference past that.
The Florida Department of Transportation's Road Rangers patrol I-95 in Palm Beach County and help at no charge. They carry a little fuel, change a tire, give a jump and push a disabled car out of a travel lane. They do not tow you to a repair shop. Reach them by dialing *347 from a cell phone, which connects to the Florida Highway Patrol.
| Factor | Local tow company | Motor club or insurer plan | FDOT Road Rangers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who you talk to | A local dispatcher | A national claims line | Florida Highway Patrol at *347 |
| Where it works | Any road, lot, garage or driveway | Anywhere, within plan limits | I-95 and other covered highways only |
| Tows to a shop | Yes, any distance | Yes, up to the plan's mileage | No, moves you to a safe spot |
| Cost at the scene | Quoted range, paid by card or cash | Prepaid, overage miles extra | No charge |
| You choose the truck | Yes, ask for a flatbed | Sometimes | Not applicable |
| Best for | Urgent tows, long hauls, special vehicles | Non-urgent help when parked safely | Getting out of a live lane on the interstate |
Paid out of pocket? Keep the itemized receipt. Many plans and insurers reimburse a tow you arranged yourself.

Three drawbridges cross the Intracoastal to the island of Palm Beach: the Flagler Memorial Bridge, the Royal Park Bridge and the Southern Boulevard Bridge. A bridge opening or a closure can add time to a call on the island, and the dispatcher accounts for that in the estimate.
Does insurance or a roadside plan pay for towing in Florida?
Check three places before you assume you are paying yourself: the auto policy declarations page for a towing and labor line, the credit card you carry, and the vehicle itself. Most new cars include the maker's roadside program for the first few years, and the number is on a sticker in the door jamb or in the owner's app.
After a crash
Towing from a collision is normally part of the claim. Tell the adjuster where the vehicle went. Get it out of storage and to the body shop quickly, because storage is charged by the day.
After a breakdown
A breakdown is not a claim. It is covered only by a roadside add-on, a motor club or a maker's program. Pay the driver, keep the itemized receipt and submit it.
A tow ordered by police or from private property is a separate category with its own county rules and rates. The ranges on this page are for tows you request yourself. Transport out of the county is covered on the West Palm Beach towing page under long distance.
What else do West Palm Beach drivers ask about towing?
How long does a tow truck take to get to me in West Palm Beach?
It depends on where the nearest free truck is and on traffic. A call from downtown at 2 pm on a Tuesday is quick. A call from I-95 at 5:30 pm in a thunderstorm is not. The dispatcher gives you an estimate when you call and tells you if it changes. No arrival time is promised on this site.
Does an all-wheel-drive car need a flatbed tow truck?
Yes, or a wheel-lift with dollies under the other axle. Towing an all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicle with two wheels rolling on the road can damage the center differential or transfer case. Say the vehicle is all-wheel drive when you call so a flatbed is sent.
My car sat in flood water after a storm. Can I start it?
Do not try. If water reached the bottom of the doors, it may be in the air intake, and cranking the engine with water in the cylinders bends connecting rods. Have the car carried on a flatbed to a shop. Salt water from a king tide on Flagler Drive is harder on wiring than rain water.
Can I ride in the tow truck?
Usually. Most tow truck cabs seat one or two passengers besides the driver. Tell the dispatcher how many people and pets are with the vehicle so the right truck is sent, or so you know to arrange a ride for the rest of the group.
Where does my car go if it is towed at night?
Wherever you say. Common choices are your driveway, your regular repair shop's lot with the key in its night drop box, or a dealer's service lane. If none of those work, the car can go to a storage yard and be delivered when the shop opens. Storage is billed by the day.
